Medix managed to convince me that they are not simply enlisted by AXA in order to keep claims costs down. Whilst their involvement may have that effect in the long-run, I have been left with the impression that this is secondary to my being given the best possible care for my condition. If that means costs are saved because I do not need repeat/corrective surgery then that is a bonus. As an insurance claims executive, I would say I was particularly cynical about Medix initially. The fact that I am not now tells me that they did a good job as far as my perceptions are concerned. the way they took the trouble to insist without telling me what to do was the most impressive part of their intervention.
